Before Christmas, I was asked to produce a composition written by Annakin for the latest film she’s scored for Swiss videographer Christian Ammann. The movie’s now finished, so have a watch and listen.

DAIS II from christian ammann on Vimeo.
I was asked to produce the music for this film written by the wonderful Annakin and directed by Christian Ammann, the Swiss photographer and film-maker. Dais II is a fashion film promoting Irish fashion designers and is a collaboration between Christian and stylist Sonya Lennon. The project showcases successful Irish designers and was shot on location in Bantry House and environs, Co. Cork. The soundtrack was composed by Annakin and produced/mixed by me.

The second single from Annakin’s chart-busting album Icarus Heart is out now, our cover version of the Pet Shop Boys’ classic ‘It’s A Sin’. Is this the toughest production I’ve ever worked on? Maybe, just maybe. Sheer love for the original song and a desire to make this version special, taking in Annakin’s wonderful voice, unique style and hybrid electronic/orchestral sound meant that there was plenty to consider! We’re thrilled with the result though and hope you will be too. Check out Annakin’s website here, or race straight to iTunes and make the purchase you so richly deserve here. Let me know what you think…

Annakin’s third album, Icarus Heart, is now available for download through iTunes. Produced through last summer, it’s another collection of wonderful songs from Annakin which Dimitri Tikovoi and I variously twisted and warped, enhanced with real and electronic elements and liberally enhanced with as much creative freedom as an artist can give a producer. I produced 8 tracks of the album and this one, Second Skin, is one of my favourites. Check out Annakin’s website here, whilst the album can be downloaded here. Let me know what you think.

Oh website how I have neglected you. Apologies to those of you who check in regularly but this has been the most incredibly busy summer in the history of ever. Alongside the Professor Penguin album, I’ve also produced 8 tracks of the new Annakin record (out in January, clips to follow) and the début album for Grant Martin and Tom Towers entitled ‘Songs From The Yellow Room’… Soon, this will be yours to buy in all the usual places but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek. This song’s called Invisible. Let me know what you think… And I promise more regular updates. I do I do I do.

I’m delighted to announce the release of Professor Penguin’s album ‘Planes’. I produced this with the Penguin himself, Jonny Abraham, earlier this summer after 6 months of joyous studio sessions. Fresh from a barnstorming set at LeeFest last weekend and an inaugural radio play on BBC 6Music, the album is already attracting some big attention. You can download it in your choice of format from Bandcamp here or contact Jonny directly via his Twitter page here to request a CD copy. It’ll be in iTunes and a variety of other digital retailers before long too. The track ‘Present’ is free on Bandcamp and a little click of the play button above should help convince you that it’s a track you need.

Here’s the second track from Professor Penguin’s forthcoming album which is progressing ever so ever so nicely. Since the last track was posted, the Prof has been booked to appear on the main stage at this summer’s Leefest, which will take place on August 14th. He’s also been filmed for a Channel 4 documentary about said appearance, so I’ll let you know when we’ve got an air-date. In the meantime, check out Pilot… And if you want to follow the Penguin himself, you may do so on Twitter, right here.

So the FA have decided there’ll be no official song for this year’s World Cup, eh? Well, that hasn’t stopped Cayte and I penning what we reckon should be the unofficial official anthem! Picture the montage sequence - Rooney sliding on both knees towards the England fans having completed a hat-trick, Lampard whipping in a 90th minute free-kick, Gerrard going on a Maradona-esque mazy run through a static defence… you get the picture. Turn it up loud, close your eyes and… believe.

Here’s the latest of the songs Cayte and I have co-written with Electrovamp. I’ve just wrapped up the production and thought it was high time you got to hear it. It’s pop at its darkest - all about not letting love go… at any cost. Check out the girls’ myspace here.
