DAIS II from christian ammann on Vimeo.

I was asked to produce the music for this film written by the wonderful Annakin and directed by Christian Ammann, the Swiss photographer and film-maker. Dais II is a fashion film promoting Irish fashion designers and is a collaboration between Christian and stylist Sonya Lennon. The project showcases successful Irish designers and was shot on location in Bantry House and environs, Co. Cork. The soundtrack was composed by Annakin and produced/mixed by me.

Goodwood Festival of Speed, Mapping Projection from Darkroom Motion Graphics on Vimeo.

In July, I was asked by the wonderful people at Darkroom.tv to provide audio for their show event at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. With petrol-headed sound design to the fore, as well as original composition, editing of other musical favourites and my voiceover début, it was a job to remember. Just wish I’d been able to stick around for magnums of champagne afterwards…

Game of Thrones Projection, Hollywood from Darkroom Motion Graphics on Vimeo.

I’ve just completed this job for HBO for the forthcoming TV epic ‘Game Of Thrones’. I was asked to get involved by the wonderful visual geniuses at Darkroom who did all the animation. Asked to write the music as well as covering the sound design made this a dream job and it went out live in LA last Thursday and is showing every night until the show airs on Sunday 17th.

Through late November and in the run up to Christmas, the wonderful Glenn and Sonya of Calm Of Zero asked me to record and mix a first collection of songs for their new project. The result is now available online in the form of Acoustic Sessions 1. For Echobelly fans, it’s a great opportunity to hear great new songs from a writing partnership you know and love. For newcomers, it’s just an opportunity to hear great new songs… ;-) Follow the band on Twitter and check out their myspace for forthcoming live dates. Plus, you can grab a copy of the mini-album here.

Annakin: Icarus Heart album out now!

Annakin’s third album, Icarus Heart, is now available for download through iTunes. Produced through last summer, it’s another collection of wonderful songs from Annakin which Dimitri Tikovoi and I variously twisted and warped, enhanced with real and electronic elements and liberally enhanced with as much creative freedom as an artist can give a producer. I produced 8 tracks of the album and this one, Second Skin, is one of my favourites. Check out Annakin’s website here, whilst the album can be downloaded here. Let me know what you think.

Annakin - The Trooper from dasoffice.ch GmbH on Vimeo.

Annakin’s new record ‘Icarus Heart’ is due out in January and the first single from it is called ‘The Trooper’, which is now available for download right here. This time, Annakin collaborated on the album both with me and with Dimitri Tikovoi, famous for his work with Placebo and Sophie Ellis Bextor among many others. Dimitri’s production work on ‘The Trooper’ is great and the video, directed by Christian Ammann showcases Annakin’s gloriously unique image. Read what 140dB’s management have to say about the release here and, of course, check out Annakin’s website for further release details and gig dates. You can do that here.

Last week saw the screening of a project commissioned by the Vienna Tourism Board in collaboration with Imagination and Darkroom, the animation and projection company wizards with whom I collaborated on Gadgetvader back in the summer. This time I was asked to compose and sound design a 6 minute film designed to showcase Vienna in all of its glory, to would-be tourists. The result is above, as projected onto the Imagination building in Store Street. I’ll upload a ’studio’ version soon.

Oh website how I have neglected you. Apologies to those of you who check in regularly but this has been the most incredibly busy summer in the history of ever. Alongside the Professor Penguin album, I’ve also produced 8 tracks of the new Annakin record (out in January, clips to follow) and the début album for Grant Martin and Tom Towers entitled ‘Songs From The Yellow Room’… Soon, this will be yours to buy in all the usual places but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek. This song’s called Invisible. Let me know what you think… And I promise more regular updates. I do I do I do.
